Is there a way to stop credit card companies from sending you offers?

I'm wondering if, like the "no-call" list to stop calls from telemarketers, if you can do something similar to stop credit card companies from sending you "pre-approved" card offers all the time.

  1. I always liked the idea of taping the first class mail pre-paid envelope to a brick or box of old books and mailing it back with no application enclosed.
  2. Yep. https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t The return brick idea doesn't make it past the post office. Don't waste your time.
  3. I was able to get some of them to stop because they had an opt out option written on the letter. http://credithelpblog.com
  4. i had this prob myself and i called them and ask ..tolddd them to stop sending me mail if i wonted a credit card i would call them its worked so far .
  5. The government recently set up a web site for us to avoid such things you will need to look up the web site or you can call the companies ask to speak with the head supervisor and ask them to put you on the do not call list but be patient instead of waiting for the "if you need to speak with ???? press 1" just hit the operator button and they will direct you the the cc company that is sending you the notice. good luck
  6. Yes! You need to call the credit reporting agencies. Look at one of your pre-approved offers, in fine print on the back or somewhere it will have a number to call so that companies can't check your credit to send you pre-approved offers anymore. Here is a great government site that gives you instructions on how to stop receiving all sorts of junk in the mail and by phone!
  7. 1-888-5OPTOUT will do it. This lets you opt out of prescreened offers through all three credit bureaus. Each person in the household must opt out separately.
