Credit Card Companies Questions
Credit card companies who buy debt, where can I find one again? I once had an old power bill and capitol one credit company offered me a credit card but I had to charge the old debt to the credit card in order to start a history of on time payments. Once I paid off the debt they gave me a three hundred dollar limit. It was an unsolicted offer, where can I find that same deal again with another credit card company to help clear debt and re-establish my credit rating once again?
Which credit card companies will give credit cards to someone who is a discharged bankrupt? A friend of mine was made bankrupt a few years ago, but has been discharged for about 18 months or so. So he can try and build his credit up, which credit card companies would allow him to obtain a credit card? He is not interested in the interest rate etc - he just wants a company who will definitely say yes, as if they say no, it will make his credit scoring worse.
How do I know if these credit card companies are reputable? Within the past couple of months, I've been receiving several letters per week from credit card companies enticing me to apply. I have bad credit, got rid of all my credit cards eight years ago, and am still paying off old debt. Could these letters have something to do with the fact I bought a new car last fall? Should I apply for a card to build my credit back up? How would I know what company to go with?
Credit card companies are raising rates and lowering balances. Can that happen to me? I have two zero percent credit cards. I plan to pay one of them off in March and the other in November. The debt to available balance ratio is 20% on each. I always pay on time and pay at least twice the minimum due. I understand that there is no such thing as a fixed interest rate. Can my credit card companies raise my rates even if I continue to pay on time and more than the minimum.
Do credit card companies charge fees for me to accept payment? I am going to place a PayPal option on my website (the standard account) where the buyer can only buy one item at a time after the price (shipping, etc.) has been decided. I am aware of PayPal's fees, but do the credit card companies also charge me a fee for accepting payment? If so, approximately how much are credit card company fees? I want to use PayPal's email billing option so that the buyer can choose his method of payment.
Why do debit card companies want you to slide your debit as a credit card? I signed up for this chase extras promotion crap. And apparently, to gain points, I can only swipe my debit card as a credit, in order to get points. Why is this the case, and why do so many credit/debit companies encourage you to swipe your DEBIT card as a credit card and sign? Thanks, all answers are appreciated.
Do credit card companies track of exactly what you are purchasing? Do credit card companies track exactly what you are purchasing? Do they have specific details about what you purchase versus a general total and where something is purchased. For example when you use a credit card at the grocery do they know exactly what you purchase? I am not doing anything shady. I noticed recently on my online statement there were different codes for groceries versus a pharmacy purchase. It made me wonder how much they monitor what is actually being purchased! Thanks for any answers on this!
What are the best credit card companies? I'm only 20 and I have no credit at all. I don't even know how to begin to get credit because my mom never taught me these things I basically raised myself. Anyway..I'm trying to number 1, get a car and number 2, apply for a credit card. What are the best companies and what do you look for in their companies? Is the rate supposed to be high or low? Just explain to me the positives and negatives about a credit card and explain to me how to get it. How much usually is your monthly payment? I need all kind of details. First time learner here!
where do credit card companies get your address from? I just got married and moved from my old address. I have changed my address with the DMV but is this enough so that credit card companies wont send offers to my old address? I have had my credit card stolen before so im a bit paranoid. If not where do i call to change my address so that nothing gets mailed to my old address?
What are some interesting offers that credit card companies are offering right now? I have been using a Discover Card for about 5 years now (It was the only one I could get at the time. I had good credit, but I never had a credit card before so this caused my to be in some sort of credit card paradox.) and I know that there are some cards that offer frequent flyer miles and other types of offers. Do you know of any credit card companies that are offering any interesting 'rewards' type programs? BTW, I pay the complete balance of my card every month.
How in the world did some of the credit card companies come up with the universal default system? Just in case some of you dont know this means if you are late on ANY bill payment the credit card company can raise your intrest rate.Thats like an animal who is hunting,it find one thats good & healthy, then all of a sudden it becomes cripple & the other animal devoures him for a meal. Most of your credit card companies are owned by banks & the banks are dragging in more money. Why doesnt the pipsqueaks in Washington do something abt this?
Is it possible to ask credit card companies to disclose data needed for research? Recently, I have had a ..not a million dollar.. but a 500 million dollar business idea that will do incredebly well and I am seriously thinking about putting it down on a paper and getting banks and institutions and small investors to get together and finance it. However, I need some data from credit card companies such as random spending habits on transportation, clothing, food and so on from a community of people. I intend to start small and then expand so I require data from credit card companies for the community I live in without any name or addresses or such.. just pure information so I could go ahead and make a realistic business plan and see how much I may require. I am wondering if if's possible to for Credit card companies to disclose of spending structure of people without disclosing thier identities for research, will I have to pay for it and where I should go?
settle with credit card companies to improve my credit? I am trying to settle with the credit card companies that I owe money to because I need to improve my credit quickly (I want to buy a house in under 2 years). If I do this, will it show that I still owe the remaining balance on my credit report? I settled with one over 2 months ago for about 60% of the amount owed. Now my credit report says that I still owe some money to this company. Is this how it works or should I dispute it?
Is there a successful way to help elderly parents communicate with credit card companies? Both of my parents are having trouble remembering to make payments on their credit cards as well as other issues where they could use my help. When I try to deal with the credit card companies myself, they are suspicious (rightly so, considering identity theft problems) and almost impossible to work with even when one of my parents is in the same room giving me any verification information needed. They are not considering canceling the cards. Has anyone helped their parents with their credit cards? What worked?
goodwill letters to old credit card companies in hopes of improving credit score? I was thinking about writing goodwill letters to CC companies that has impacted my credit score in a negative way. I was delinquent on these accounts and that's what has hurt my score. I'm not even sure if they would still have my information but i have my credit card number on my credit report. So before i go thru all the trouble in contacting these places, is it going to be worth it?
What do credit Card Companies do with spending figures? So do credit card companies compile the spending data of their card holders with there demographic data to produce reports that they share with different industry's (i.e. automotive, health care, retail)? or do they sell the data to companies/marketing organizations? or do they do nothing with the data?
Which credit card companies report available credit to the credits bureaus? I'm trying to increase my credit score. One of the negative factors on my credit report was the apparently small amount of available credit on my credits cards. My credit card company does not give out that information. How can we prevent Credit Card companies from sending my disabled sister cards??? My sister is mentally ill and has been for the last 30 years. She is functional and lives in an assisted living facility. She applys for credit cards and goes on spending sprees until the limit is reached. We pay them and tell her to stop using them. We have an attorney who now manages her money. She applies for more credit cards and they send them with higher spending limits because we continue to pay the bills. When we call the credit reporting agencies they make a note on the file however, my sister calls and tells them to remove it. Without my sister defaulting on payments, how can we prevent credit card companies from sending her cards?
Should credit card companies and retail stores foot the bill on ID theft? The answers to ID theft are simple. I feel that credit card companies need to ID people they give credit to, stores need to ID people using credit cards, online stores need to call back the person using the card to verify user. Why should the credit card holder foot the bill when it is bad people out there using their numbers and rich minded credit card companies and stores willing to help steal from many? Stupid Americans we are to let this happen. Call your lazy Rep in congress for change. Or just go along with the crimes....
Are credit bureaus in cahoots with credit card companies? It seems like the credit bureaus are just the hired muscle of credit card companies because: They give a better score for people who have a lot of open credit accounts and They make life miserable for those who fall behind on payments. Ok, I understand what the first few responses are saying. But isn't the fact that, in order to have a good credit score you have to have a lot of credit cards with open accounts kind of fishy? I mean, its like extortion: Get more credit cards or your interest rates will be higher.
I just wanted to ask you if Credit Card companies upgrade your cards if you stay with them for long? Amex rejected me. I guess 724 isn't a good score anymore to apply for better cards. Well, I had another question to ask you. I currently have a crappy Capitalone card. Will they give me a better card or will they keep me with the same one a few months down the line? It has a low credit limit, not many advantages really. I just wanted to ask you if CC companies upgrade your cards if you stay with them for long?
How does rental car insurance offered by credit card companies (when you use the card) work? I have credit cards which say they cover me for rental car insurance when I use the card to make the full payment for the rental. How does that work? Are there any catches? Does it make sense for me to get the additional insurance from the rental agency (like Avis)? If I am in an accident, will the Credit Card insurance cover everything or will it also be charged to my regular car insurance company?
